Making Wishes Come True, One Child at a Time
I first met Cortney Snapp in August of 2015. Cortney is the Community Director at Make-A-Wish Central California and was reaching out to Green Fin Realty to be a sponsor of the upcoming annual charity fundraiser; Wine, Women & Shoes Event.
We were excited to take part and help Make-A-Wish Central California gain community support as well as earn some money for a great cause. Cortney is very energetic and always has a very active schedule. I was honored to sit down with her and find out how Make-A-Wish Central California was making a difference here in the Valley.
I asked Cortney how she got involved with Make-A-Wish and she shared with me that her nephew Chase, at age 2 ½, was diagnosed with leukemia. Through this journey with her nephew and family members, contact was made with Make-A-Wish for Chase. A relationship was built and eventually, Cortney made the move from Fresno Magazine to Make-A-Wish Central California.
I am happy to say, Cortney’s nephew Chase is now 13 years old and thriving

As a new mom, Cortney knows the importance of family and helping others. Her desire is to provide hope, strength, and joy to others. This is the reason Cortney enjoys working at Make-A-Wish Central California
I asked Cortney what the biggest misconception people have about Make-A-Wish Central California. She said people think it’s only for children who are between 2 ½ – 18 years of age that have a life-threatening illness.
Here are some facts about Make-A-Wish Central California:
- The Central California Chapter was founded in 1986. They serve the following counties: Fresno, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced and Tulare.
- This past year, Make-A-Wish set a record by granting 139 wishes to children with Life-Threatening illnesses.
- One of the largest annual fundraisers they have is Wine, Women & Shoes, which recently occured at Engelmann Cellars. However, donations are still very much needed and welcomed. You can find out more about the event at Wine, Women & Shoes.
Thank you, Cortney for all the work you are doing for such a valuable and important cause.
