What’s your recovery rate?

Examining your physical and spiritual fitness

Many of you that know me personally or that follow me on Facebook know that I’m an avid cyclist. I try to get a minimum of 50 miles a week in and often times, it can be quite a bit more than that. 30-50 mile rides on Saturday morning can be quite common for me. I have my good years and my not so good years but, for all intensive purposes, this has been a pretty good year for cycling. I’ve been able to be pretty consistent this year, even through these scorching summer months. And, for that, I’m pleased. Continue reading…

Are you Bulletproof?

As we continue our journey into adulthood we notice our bodies changing. We are no longer invincible or taut & firm. The six packs are now 2 packs if we’re lucky. We work out and try to eat right but the challenge is real. Fast food restaurants on every corner. Continue reading…

Learning to Eat Healthy

It’s that time of year when we decide to start making healthier choices; after the holidays of course! Learning to Eat Healthy is choice and it’s definitely obtainable…

Our memories and senses inhale the baking of fudge, Christmas cookies, pies and vast variety of Holiday Treats. As Todd and I have progressed throughout 2016 and our Self-Care versus Healthcare awareness journey, I’ve recently been learning about refined sugar.  When I Googled the definition for refine, the first item that popped up was quite a surprise, sugar was in the description, and, very scary!

DOHM sound machine

The DOHM DS Sound Machine

I’ve become somewhat of a podcast junkie. Whether at the gym with the headphones on or just driving in the car, I have either an audio book or a podcast of some sort playing. It’s a great way to feed your brain with constructive information on a continual basis rather than to be just listening to the radio, and in essence, wasting that valuable time. Continue reading…

A Walk to Remember

Luke & Linda

Enjoying Life’s Little Moments

I’m sure you would agree that Fresno has such nice summer evenings. Well, most of the time at least. Linda and I have created a tradition in the summer time of taking family walks in the evenings around 7:45pm. We’ve done this for the past 10 years or so. We have a quick 1-mile walk that takes us down the road West until we dead-end into the end of the 3rd hole at Riverside Golf Course. We always comment how much cooler it is right there. A consistent small breeze runs across the fairway, over the green and then spills onto the road where it finds us. It seems like the temperature will drop 10 degrees in that one spot.

The Story of a Happy Man

Happiness is a choice you always have a say in!

Linda and I love to decorate for Halloween. I suppose it’s a juvenile pseudo holiday that we get enjoyment from. We transform the exterior of our home into a haunted house, complete with a graveyard, skeletons, coffin, fog machines, and a myriad of other fun stuff. We’ll dress up and scare the children and their parents too. I guess truthfully speaking, that’s the part that we enjoy most.
