Can you say ACAI?
Downtown Fresno is starting the journey towards developing into a very nice niche community. From the ballpark to Art Hop, Bitwise, some historic buildings and new buildings, it’s a great place to go visit as long as you take lots of quarters to feed the parking meters. The Fulton Mall is currently undergoing renovation and I’m excited for all the efforts being made to make Downtown Fresno a hot spot again.
The last 6 months or so, we’ve been on a bit of an Acai Bowl craze. We LOVE them and are always on the lookout for a great place to get a good Acai bowl. Recently, we’ve found a hidden gem called Rio Acai Bowls. Acai is an indigenous berry found in the rain forests of the Amazon. This fruit has been heralded for centuries as a healing, immune-stimulating, energy-boosting fruit. What a healthy alternative for a meal on occasion…
I stumbled upon Rio Acai Bowls while in the downtown area showing property and had to step in and give it a try. This by far is the best I’ve had here in Fresno. I had The Rio Bowl which includes: granola, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, coconut shavings and honey. I like that the coconut shavings are organic and unsweetened which adds to the character and goodness. The Acai that is used here is a thicker base, more like a sherbet/ice cream consistency. I’ve been to many places for an Acai bowl and what they all have in common is that the Acai looks like it’s melting and runny which I don’t particularly enjoy.
They also serve Poke Bowls, smoothies, and Pitaya Bowls and you have your choice of toppings.
Rio is based out of Bakersfield and this is the only location in Fresno so far. If you’re in the market to try something new, nutritious and yummy, well, go give them a try. Your tummy will thank you.
