The DOHM DS Sound Machine
I’ve become somewhat of a podcast junkie. Whether at the gym with the headphones on or just driving in the car, I have either an audio book or a podcast of some sort playing. It’s a great way to feed your brain with constructive information on a continual basis rather than to be just listening to the radio, and in essence, wasting that valuable time. Legendary trainer, Brian Tracy once referred to the car radio as bubble gum for the brain. You chew bubble gum but it doesn’t do anything for you, it’s just something to do. His comment was in reference to utilizing your travel time for the best possible purposes. I heard that comment from Brian Tracy some 15-20 years ago but it has always stuck with me.
Recently, I was listening to Tim Ferris’ Podcast, the Tim Ferris Show while driving home from the office. Tim mentioned an insomnia condition he has where it takes him a long time to fall asleep. It’s a condition that is common in his family. I believe it’s called delayed sleep disorder but don’t quote me on that.
My ears perked up because that is also something that has routinely impacted me throughout my life. Not getting a good night sleep can be so debilitating and I felt affinity with Tim when he was describing his experience with this condition.
Not getting a good night sleep can be debilitating
Tim mentioned a product he has recently been using that has made a profound difference for him. It’s called the DOHM-DS (Dual Speed) by a company called Marcpac. It’s in essence, a white noise machine that mimics the sound of rushing air that is similar to a fan. However, it does not actually move any air which does tend to bother some people (such as Linda). Hearing this, I thought to myself, “I need to check this thing out immediately.”
Later that day I did just that. I Googled the DOHM-DS and was blown away by the reviews I read on Amazon. The DOHM-DS is the Official Sound Conditioner of the National Sleep Foundation. This white noise that they have created has been proven to block noises at a broad range of frequencies, so you can get deep, undisturbed sleep all night long. Since the sound machine is dual speed, you can control the output sound from high to low and you can also adjust the tone that it produces.
I’ve been using the DOHM-DS now for the past few months and I must say that I love it! For me, it’s a very soothing noise that gently puts me to sleep. It’s also pretty compact and you can take it with you when you travel, which is exactly what I recently did when we visited Universal Studios over 4th of July weekend. It was outstanding to have the DOHM with us in the hotel room, especially considering there was a wedding reception occurring on the floor above us.
If you’re like me and you periodically, or chronically have suffered from insomnia, check out the DOHM-DS. At $49.99, it just may be one of the best things you’ve ever purchased.
