Stories from the street

Earlier this year, I had a buyer where for several months, we had been diligently searching to find the perfect home for him. As you can imagine, you have to sift through a lot of inventory (ugly houses) before you eventually find that proverbial needle in the haystack. However, we were both determined and one day, that’s exactly what happened. I finally found what I thought would be the ideal home for him. It checked all the boxes he had identified. Excited, I picked up the phone and called him late one evening. After giving him the address and discussing specifics regarding the house, he told me that he liked it but his girlfriend wasn’t really impressed. I assured him though, that I felt this was his house.  We needed to go see it the next day and I had already made a 3 pm appointment. He agreed to go see the house. The next day, we met at 3 pm and toured the house. As I anticipated, he LOVED it and immediately made an offer. After a few days of negotiations, his offer was accepted. We opened escrow and immediately scheduled his buyer inspections. Continue reading…

Examining your physical and spiritual fitness

Many of you that know me personally or that follow me on Facebook know that I’m an avid cyclist. I try to get a minimum of 50 miles a week in and often times, it can be quite a bit more than that. 30-50 mile rides on Saturday morning can be quite common for me. I have my good years and my not so good years but, for all intensive purposes, this has been a pretty good year for cycling. I’ve been able to be pretty consistent this year, even through these scorching summer months. And, for that, I’m pleased. Continue reading…

Client Stories: 1393 E Salem

Getting it done fast

Earlier this year we received a referral from Tonya Houze-Woods. We sold Tonya’s home in the late summer of 2016 and had a great time working with her not only on the sale of her home but also the purchase of her new home which is beautiful and fits her like a glove. Here’s a shout out to Tonya to say THANK YOU for the referral of her good friends, Jim and Karen. Since our business is mostly all by referral, we truly are appreciative to all of our clients and friends that put the word out for us. Continue reading…

Business Spotlight: Rio Acai Bowls

Can you say ACAI?

Downtown Fresno is starting the journey towards developing into a very nice niche community. From the ballpark to Art Hop, Bitwise, some historic buildings and new buildings, it’s a great place to go visit as long as you take lots of quarters to feed the parking meters. The Fulton Mall is currently undergoing renovation and I’m excited for all the efforts being made to make Downtown Fresno a hot spot again. Continue reading…

The Slippery Slope of Work/Life Balance

Several weeks back, I was packing up to leave the office for the day and a notification popped up on my phone with a meeting invite from none other than one Mrs. Linda Mitchell. Now, this is not an unusual circumstance. We send each other calendar meeting requests all the time for various appointments we go on, but this one peaked my interest. The location was for Cayucos for the weekend. When I got home, I asked Mrs. Mitchell what was up with the meeting invite. “I wanted to surprise you, we need the time away together,” was her simple response. Continue reading…

Dynatrap

The Insect and Mosquito Trap

We recently spotted the Dynatrap Insect and Mosquito Trap at Costco. However, we hemmed and hawed and didn’t pick it up. I did however, go back and start doing research on this gizmo and quickly realized I should have bought it. Continue reading…

Back to Basics

Saving Money, Practicing Humility and Getting Dirty

Have you ever been hit square in the face with the realization that you need to make changes? This happens to us all once in a while and our human nature is to cling to the familiar, even when we know deep down it may not be working. I’m sure you’d agree that it can be pretty scary to branch out, break old habits while earnestly working to create new ones that will ultimately be in our best interest. The thing is, when you’re standing at this proverbial Y in the road, you don’t always know that the new path will be a better one, you just know that the current path won’t work for you in the long-run. I’ve referred to this in past writings as the Compound Effect. At first, changes may be so small they’re hardly even noticeable. However, over time, the outcome of our choices, routines, and habits become bigger and bigger. And, this is true for both the positive and the negatives in life. Continue reading…

Business Spotlight: Mike’s Barbecue

Best Tri-Tip in Fresno

If you’ve lived in Fresno for any length of time or even the Central Valley for that matter, then you know we’re serious about our Tri-Tip sandwiches in this town. Periodically, we’ve had guests from different parts of the country and when we offer to BBQ some Tri-Tip, they’re like “A Tri what?” They have no idea what it is. I don’t know if Tri-Tip is local to the Western United States or even closer but, I don’t really care. I’m just glad we get our Tri-Tip on in this town.
